Virginia W. Duty, 75, of Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium formerly of Florida died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium on Thursday (March 24, 2011) morning. She was born March 12, 1936 in Sussex, New Jersey a daughter of the late Banesse and Rebecca Smith Wright.

In Virginia she married the late Robert Duty.
Mrs. Duty moved from Florida to Emporium to make her home with her great niece Heidi Kennedy and her husband John. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, being on the computer and enjoyed spending time with her great nieces and nephew.

Jerome P. “Jerry” Joyce, 61, formerly of Emporium, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in Snyder Memorial Health Care Center, Marienville, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 18, 1949 in St. Marys, he was the son of Joseph and Margaret Heher Joyce.
On May 19, 2000 in Du Bois, he married Karen Pavelko Fritz who survives.
 
Mr. Joyce graduated from Cameron County High School in 1967 and Bryant and Stratton Business College in Buffalo, NY in 1973.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the US Army.
A longtime resident of Emporium, Mr. Joyce moved to St. Marys in 2000.
From 1973-1988 he was employed by Emporium Specialties Co., Inc. in Austin and from 1988-2002 by Elco Sintered Alloy in Kersey.

In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by: one brother, Robert Joyce and wife Robin of Harrisville; one sister, Peggy Letterman and husband Paul of Emporium; five nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and two infant sisters, Janice and Sally Joyce.

Visitations with video tribute will be held in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Saturday, March 26 from 4 until 5 p.m. at which time Funeral & Committal Services will be held with the Rev. Gary Atkinson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Emporium, officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

Midred M. Nicolo, 94, of Pine Crest Manor, St. Marys formerly of Meadow Rd., Emporium died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys, on Saturday (March 19, 2011) morning. She was born November 17, 1916 in St. Marys a daughter of the late Jesse and Louise Cortise Bologna. In 1932 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church she married the late Dominic Nicolo.
 
Mrs. Nicolo had worked at Sylvania for many years. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and enjoyed playing bingo and also enjoyed her poodles.
 
Surviving are a son Francis J. Nicolo and his wife Brenda, Emporium
two daughters Pauline Housler, Emporium and Catherine Caroccia and her husband Lou of Linden, PA.
Seven grandchildren: Donald Housler, Paula Hall, Wayne Klinestiver, Lori Hetrick, Lisa Nicolo, Deborah Young & Daniel Belk,
19 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great Great Grandchildren
A sister Mary Knepp of St. Marys Pa., and a Half-Sister, Natalie Grimm of Emporium.
She was preceded by parents Jesse and Louise Cortise Bologna,
husband, Dominic Nicolo who died in 1995, a
a granddaughter Linda Mae Housler, three sisters Louise Mattiuz, Betty Salvatore and Josephine Allison and one brother, Jesse Balogna.
 
There will be No Visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium on Monday at 10:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium

Albert L. “Snuffy” Dolnick, 97, of Clear Creek, Emporium, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in Elk Regional Medical Center, St. Marys.
 
Born May  5, 1913 in Paris, Kentucky, he was the son of Samuel and Lena Dolnick.  On July 17, 1954 in Bedford, he married Ila Kay Bush who survives.
 
A resident of Emporium for 57 years, he was formerly a resident of New York City.  He was an electrical engineer and earned degrees from the University of Cincinnati, the University of Chicago, Brooklyn Polytech, and Columbia University.  His employment included several years at Shure Brothers in Chicago and Beldyne Engineering in New York and Sylvania Electric in various locations since 1941 until retiring from the Emporium location in 1978.
 
Mr. Dolnick is survived by one son, Jeffrey (Mariann) Dolnick of Marietta, Georgia; one daughter, Renata Dolnick of California; and two granddaughters, Abbie Dolnick of Sandy Springs, Georgia and Lindsey Dolnick of Statesboro, Georgia.
 
Friends will be received in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Friday, March 18 from 4-7 p.m. where Funeral & Committal Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Atkinson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
 
Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.

Kathryn W. “Katty” Henry, 95, of Greensburg, formerly of Emporium, died Monday, March 14, 2011, in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg.
 
Born December 6, 1915 in Emporium, she was the daughter of Frank and Edith Colson Wheaton.  On September 22, 1940 in Emporium, she married Edward H. Henry who died July 16, 1985.
 
A resident of Emporium until last September, Mrs. Henry was a 1933 graduate of Emporium High School.  She was employed by Sylvania Electric in Emporium in the Payroll Department and then for 20 years was the bookkeeper for Carl Kelly Insurance, also in Emporium.
 
Mrs. Henry was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Emporium, Emporium Country Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Emporium Country Club, the Bucktailers RVers, the Belles of St. Marys Square Dance Club, and several Bridge and 500 card clubs.
 
She is survived by one son, John E. Henry of Greensburg; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jeanne) Lucas of Warminister; three grandchildren, John Lucas, Karen Polechko and Matthew Henry; and four great grandchildren, JW and Ryan Lucas and Colin and Leah Kathryn Polechko.  Additionally Katty has a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Wheaton; a niece, Sally Chango and two nephews, Thomas Williams and Michael Wheaton.
 
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Henry was predeceased by her sister Blanche Williams and brother Francis Wheaton.
 
Visitations with video tribute will be held in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium, Thursday, March 17 from 2-6 p.m.
 
Funeral & Committal Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Philip Sanders, pastor, officiating.
 
Burial will be in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium.

Helen A. Stuart, 56, of 38 Mooley Hollow Rd, Emporium died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys on Saturday (March 12, 2011) afternoon.

She was born May 24, 1954 in Warren, Pa a daughter of the late Jack and Ethel Carlson Stuart.
Helen graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1972. She had worked, over 20 years, as a nurses-aid at the Guy and Mary Felt Manor. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Alvin E. Aikens, 71, of 359 South Mountain Road, Emporium, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on January 10, 1940 in Clymer, a son of the late Albert F. and Margaret T. Janosko Aikens.
On June 3, 1961 he married Barbara M. Emery in Emporium.
 
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a Jack of all Trades who could fix just about anything, he was also an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved to go “salvaging”.
 
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Barbara M. Aikens, Emporium, three sons, Alvin “Rocky” (Christie) Aikens, Emporium, Timothy (Lisa) Aikens, Southport, NC, Jonathan Aikens, Emporium, four daughters, Bambi (John) Teates, Lisa (Ron) Main, Valerie Gaberseck, all of Emporium, Theresa (Ben) Hauber, Raleigh, NC, two brothers, Edward (Audrey) Aikens, Sr., Clymer, Richard, (Eileen) Aikens, Emporium, one sister, Dorothy Jane Reed, Emporium, twenty one grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Albert Aikens, one grandson, Daniel Best Aikens, one son-in-law, Paul Gaberseck and one nephew, Edward Aikens, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Emporium on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at which time a Memorial Service will be held with the Rev. James Eastman, officiating.
 
Private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.

 Lee Joseph Cook, 57, of 914 Windfall Rd., St. Marys, formerly of Emporium died at his residence, Monday (February 28, 2011) afternoon. 

He was born June 22, 1953 in St. Marys a son of Bessie Priest Cook, Emporium and the late Lee C. Cook.

Mr. Cook graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1973. He resided at Oak Manor in St. Marys for 37 years and worked at Elcam over 37 years.

Joe enjoyed his family, Christmas, his dogs, Elvis Presley and collecting Elvis memorabilia, mowing grass and fishing. He enjoyed playing lottery tickets and often won.
