Kenneth L. Bickford, 86, of 324 W. 4th St., Emporium, Pennsylvania   died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys on Thursday (March 28, 2013) morning.     He was born June 11, 1926 in Liberty Twp.,McKean County, PA a son of the late Glenn G. and Fern Weimer Bickford.

On September 20, 1947 in Coudersport he married Jettie Logue Bickford, who survives. Mr. Bickford graduated from Coudersport High School. He served with the US Army Air Force during WW II. Ken worked at the former A & P Grocery Store and retired from Olivett's Shurfine where he worked for many years. He was a fifty year member of the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department and a active member of the Emporium Ambulance Service for many years and the First United Methodist Church in Emporium.

Randy S. Housler, 56, of 1253 Clear Creek Rd, Emporium died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys on Thursday (March 21, 2013) morning.
He was born March 11, 1957 in St. Marys a son of Jessie Stuckey Housler, Emporium and the late George Housler.

On December 31, 1981 in Emporium he married Rexa McCoole, who survives.
Mr. Housler graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1975. He worked at Mallory Lumber over 18 years and at GKN for over 10 years. Randy enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He loved spending time with his family.

James Elroy Morean, 88, of Erie Ave., St. Marys, departed the earthly realm on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1924, to the late Adelbert and Lina Lockwood Morean, who were from Austin.
On May 15, 1948 he married Betty Huston Morean, who survives.

James was a member of the 1942 graduating class of Austin. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for 42 years at Sylvania, where he served a four-year apprenticeship for tool and die maker in the machine shop, and later transferred to the machine design department. He went on to receive a Certificate in Engineering from Scranton College and received many patents for mechanical design. After retirement, he formed his own company, J & B Specialties, consulting for many area companies, including Metal Powder Products, Zippo, and Caldwell.

He served the Austin United Methodist Church as Sunday School Superintendent, Lay Minister and Trustee; the Austin School Board as treasurer; and was a Boy Scout leader. A lifetime beekeeper, he continued keeping bees, reading and refining his craft.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, a daughter, Lynn Miller (Brad) of Rochester, and two sons, James Morean of Austin and Alan (Cindy) Morean of St. Marys; four granddaughters, Julie, Abby, Sarah, and Shannon; a grandson, Casey; and two great-grandchildren, Timothy and Rebekah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Etta, and a brother, Harry.
Funeral services for James Elroy Morean will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., St. Marys, on Friday, March 15 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Chris Kindle, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in the Newton Cemetery in Emporium.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.

Lucinda L. "Cindy" Beck, 69, of 3543 Rich Valley Rd., Emporium passed away early Monday morning at her residents following a lengthy illness. She was born May 9, 1943 in Clearfield, PA a daughter to the late Sherwood and Alice Shaffner McDowell. On April 25, 1964 in DuBois she married James Beck who survives.

She graduated from Clearfield High School in the class of 1962. She retired in 1996 from Motorcoils Manufacturing where she worked for over 30 years. She enjoyed baking, cookie jar collecting planting flowers and watching hummingbirds.

In addition to her husband James Beck

4 daughters: Vicki Beck and Corrinna Mrs. James Pratt both of Clearfield,

Valerie Beck and Jamie, Mrs. Ken Stuart both of Emporium.

1 Son Russell Beck and his wife Jennifer, Emporium.

EMPORIUM - Andrew P. Pushcar, 92, formerly of West 7th St., Emporium, died Saturday (March 16, 2013) in Sena-Kean Manor, Smethport.

Born Dec. 4, 1920, in Emporium, he was the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Gabrick Pushcar. On July 16, 1951, in Emporium, he married Stella Livoto, who survives.

Mr. Pushcar was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army.

A lifelong resident of Emporium, he was a 1939 graduate of Emporium High School and was employed by Cameron Manufacturing in Emporium. He was later hired as a stockroom clerk by Sylvania Electric in Emporium, where he was employed for 47 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Mark Church in Emporium, and a former member of Sylvania's Quarter Century Club and Camp F.D.R.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Stella, are one son, Michael J. (Cheryl) Pushcar of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one daughter, Mary "Tootsie" (Rich) Stuart of Emporium; six grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Jamie, Aaron, Sean and Joel; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Rita Shoop.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation with video tribute will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mark Church with the Rev. Paul Siebert, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium. Military honors will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lorraine Tilburg Coppersmith, 84, of Old Hickory, Tennessee, formerly of Emporium and York, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 in her home.
 
Born September 28, 1928 in Emporium she was the daughter of John B. Tilburg and Catherine Whitmer Tilburg (Noll) and the stepdaughter of Lester H. Noll. On June 28, 1953 in Tidioute, she married Walter H. Coppersmith who died October 20, 2012.
 
 
She was graduate of Emporium High School, the Presbyterian Hospital Nursing Program affiliated with the Universityof Pennsylvania, and later conducted graduate studies at PennState University. A licensed registered nurse, she was employed as Head Surgical Nurse for bronchoscopy by Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphiaand as a school nurse by the CameronCounty School District.
 
 
A resident of Emporium most of her life, Mrs. Coppersmith was member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Emporium, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star Emporium Chapter #101, and was also an accomplished vocalist and pianist. In 1983 she and her husband moved to York and in 2005 relocated to Nashville.
 
 
She is survived by: one son, Curtis J. “CJ” (Rachel) Coppersmith of Concord, Massachusetts; one daughter, Beth Ann Coppersmith of Nashville, Tennessee; two grandsons, Nathan Coppersmith of Oakland, California and Daniel Coppersmith of Concord; one granddaughter, Lauren Coppersmith of Nashville; and many nieces and nephews.
 
 
Mrs. Coppersmith was predeceased by her husband, parents, and stepfather. Her father, John B. Tilburg, was killed in action during World War II.
 
 
The family will receive friends in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium on Friday, March 22 from 5-7 p.m. at which time an Easter Star Service will be held.
 
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. in Emmanuel Episcopal Church with the Rev. Matt Ryan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
 
 
Following the service the family will receive friends at a reception in the Presbyterian Church hall across the street.

Dolores M "Dee" Rinehuls, 82, of McKinley Health Center, Brookville formerly of S. Walnut St., Emporium died at her home in Brookville, on Wednesday (March 13, 2013) evening.She was born September 25, 1930 in Reynoldsville a daughter of the late John and Roxie Silvey Clark.

On November 28, 1953 in Reynoldsville she married the late Charles Rinehuls.

Mrs. Rinehuls graduated from Reynoldsville High School in the class of 1948. She worked at Ethan Allen in Eldred and the Holiday Inn in Bradford for several years. She also worked at Cameron County High School for many years and was known as the "cafeteria lady". She loved antiques and auctions and was an avid billiards player. She also was passionate about art glass collecting.

Wilfred R. "Dewey" Cheatle, 93, of 903 Rich Valley Rd., Emporium died at Elk Regional Health Center, St. Mary on Monday (March 11, 2013) afternoon.

He was born November 26, 1919 in St. Marys a son of the late Edward and Lillie Davis Cheatle.

On October 6, 1967 in he married Theresa Raffaele Cheatle, who survives.

Mr. Cheatle attended school in St. Marys. He retired from Sylvania in Emporium where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and enjoyed woodworking, making rosaries, crosses and gardening.

Lillian N. Crosby, 102, of Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA formerly of Emporium and Buchanan, TN died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium on Friday (March 8, 2013) morning.
She was born December 21, 1910 in Driftwood, PA a daughter of the late Oscar and Jennie Anderson Nordberg.
On May 22, 1937 in Driftwood she married the late Ivan Crosby.
Mrs. Crosby was the last living member of her immediate family. She graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1929. She worked as a secretary at Sylvania and later at Emporium Hardware. In May 1961 she and Ivan moved to Paris, Tennessee, where she worked at the Hotel in Paris Landing, TN. She returned to Emporium, PA in 1997. Lillian enjoyed making quilts, hook rugs and gardening. She loved all her family and was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed

Port Allegany - Alice Ruth Mahood, 66, of Emporium, PA, died Saturday (March 9, 2013) at her residence. She was born Sept. 11, 1946 in Schenectady, NY, a daughter of Wallace Dudley and Margaret Elizabeth Jones Spade.

 

Alice was a 1966 graduate of Port Allegany High School and attended New Castle Trade School in New Castle, PA.

 

She is survived by her mother, Margaret Elizabeth Spade of Coudersport, PA
two sisters: Margie (Gary) Greenwalt of Massillon, OH and Susan (Frank) Baker of Coudersport, PA
a niece: Margaret (Dustin) Crosby of Coudersport, and a nephew, Andrew Baker of Coudersport
two great nephews, and one great niece, and her friend and caregiver: Emma Mae Burke of Emporium, PA.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Wallace Richard Mahood on June 23, 1986.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, from 1-2 P.M. at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc, 105 N Main St, Port Allegany, PA, where memorial services will be held at 2 P.M., with the Rev. Roger Laktash, officiating. Burial will be in the Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.

Leo J. Cummings, 71, of 306 W. 6th St., Emporium died at DuBois Regional Medical Center, DuBois on Wednesday (March 6, 2013) morning.

He was born June 13, 1941 in St. Marys, PA a son of the late Leo B. and Mary Gabor Cummings.
On July 17, 1971 in St. Mark Catholic Church he married Connie Uplinger Cummings, who Survives.

Mr. Cummings graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1961. He served with the US Navy from 1961 to 1965. Leo retired from Emporium Hardwoods where he worked for many years. Years ago he worked at Sylvania. He was a life member of the Miller-Raffaelle Post 6221, VFW and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department.

She was born February 24, 1916 in Sinnamahoning, PA a daughter of the late Edward and Edith Hershberger Lohr.

In 1930 she married the late Murray Fairman.

Mrs. Fairman enjoyed crocheting, knitting and quilting and donated most of her handmade items to loved ones.
