Donald D. “Don” Torrey “beloved husband and father”

 

AUSTIN, PA---Donald D. “Don” Torrey, 72, of Austin, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a long battle with cancer.

 

Born on August 8, 1943 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Wayne L. and Cora M. “Bonnie” Stilson Torrey. On May 25, 1991 in Marshall, Virginia, he married Kathy A. Miller, who survives.

 

He was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. Don honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a self-employed carpenter.

 

Don was a member of Tom Mix Rangers. He loved to hunt and fish. His greatest love was his family.

 

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Melissa D. Crown of Pittsburg, Texas; two sons, Duane L. (Lisa) Torrey of Pittsburg, Texas and Darin (Tina Arliss) Torrey of Pine Grove; “Kathy’s daughter”, Julie L. (Joel) Predmore of Elizabeth, Colorado; his stepson, John R. (Joan) Bacot of Warrenton, Virginia; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Craig (Joan) Torrey of Andrews Settlement, Dave (Mary Kay) Torrey of Shinglehouse, Karl (Gay) Torrey of Coneville, and Phil (Carol) Torrey of North Rose, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Don was predeceased by his parents and his first wife, Shirley.

 

In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on a date and place to be announced.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tom Mix Rangers, c/o Jeannie Frailey, 1091 Parks Road, Irvona, PA 16656.

 

Don’s family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.

Kenneth E. LaBrozzi, 63, of 124 N Saint Marys St., St. Marys, PA formerly of Emporium died at his residence on Tuesday, (June 28,2016) afternoon.

 

He was born October 15, 1952 in St. Marys, PA a son of Joseph LaBrozzi, Emporium, PA and the late Adeline Gentile LaBrozzi. Ken graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1971. He then served with the US Army during Vietnam Era from which he was honorably discharged from on January 10, 1974. He was a caring and compassionate gentleman who enjoyed reading, electronics and gardening.

 

He is survived by three sisters, Carol Ann (Robert) Ives, Russell; Diane Marie (Lee) Pesch, Phoenix, AZ; Anita Louise (Anthony) Pellegrino, Warren; three brothers, Lawrence J. (Sandra) LaBrozzi, Bradford; Vincent P. (Karen) LaBrozzi, Glendale, AZ; Joseph F. (Nancy) LaBrozzi, Cypress, TX and several, nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Adeline "Della" Gentile LaBrozzi, and a niece, Toni Lynn LaBrozzi. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Wednesday (July 6, 2016) at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.

 

There will be no visitation. A Military Service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail at the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery following Mass.

 

Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

Paul A. "Sonny" Abriatis, 74, of 49 Huckleberry Circle, Emporium, PA died at Altoona Hospital, Altoona, PA on Tuesday (June 21, 2016) morning. He was born December 18, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late Paul "Pete" Abriatis and Mildred Greiner Renton Abriatis Elder 

On December 28, 1963 in St. Mark Catholic Church he married Donna Gillette Abriatis, who survives. Sonny attended elementary school at St. Ann's Catholic School in Pittsburgh and later at East Forest High School in Marienville where he graduated in 1960. He moved to Emporium and began working with his father in the construction business which he did for over 50 years, until poor health and economy forced him to quit. Together they built most of the industrial buildings in Cameron County. Sonny was a 4th° knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Emporium.

 

Surviving in addition to his wife Donna Gillette Abriatis, of over 52 years are four sons, Paul (Nicole) Abriatis, Emporium;

Michael (Beth) Abriatis, Pittsburgh;

Jon Abriatis, Emporium;

Mark (Jen) Abriatis, Emporium.

Ten Grandchildren: Ian, Haley, Autumn, Emily, Joe, Molly, Sarah, Maggie, Noah & Zach.

Brother, Robert "Bob" (Roseann) Abriatis, Mesa, AZ;

Sister, Aloma Jean Rudolph, Emporium;

Special Friends, Mary Jo Fiore & Joan Price.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul "Pete" and Mildred Greiner Renton Abriatis Elder; Two Brothers, James and Ron Abriatis.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday (June 25, 2016) at 10:30 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.

 

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7 PM. Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA

 

Memorial Contributions may be made to Community Nurses Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Rd., Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, 299 E. Second St., Emporium, PA 15834 or the charity of the donors choice.
