Martha A. Clark, 84, of Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA formerly of 400 Spring St., died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor on Friday morning, December 9, 2016. 

She was born May 10, 1932 in St. Marys, PA a daughter of the late Albert and Nettie Arvona Card. She married the late Herman Clark, Jr. Mrs. Clark loved cooking and playing guitar with her brother Ralph and her nephew Jack. She always enjoyed going to yard sales.

 

 Survived by two daughters, Debbie (Dale) Catalone and Donna Clark, both of Emporium; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

 

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Nettie Arvona Card, her husband, Herman Clark, Jr., two sisters, Mabel Whitehead and Audrey Clark, four brothers, Orville, Forest, Ralph and Albert Card. 

 

There will be No Visitation.

 A Private Memorial Graveside Service will be held, according to her wishes, at the Newton Cemetery 

 

Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA

Hope L. Bailey, 27, of 1172 Moore Hill Rd., Emporium, PA died in an automobile accident, just outside of Kersey, on route 255 Thursday morning, November 24, 2016. She was born May 15, 1989 in St. Marys, PA a daughter of Kenneth and Sharon Reed Bailey, Jr., of Emporium 

 

Hope graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 2007 and attended Clarion University for a year. She then graduated from DuBois School of Cosmetology. After graduating she and a friend opened the Salon 405 in DuBois and worked there for a short time. Hope worked full time at Wise Eyes in DuBois and St. Marys and also part time at GNC all while taking online classes through Liberty University for Psychology. Her goal was to become a military psychologist and help veterans cope, when they come home from deployment. She grew up in the 4H program and enjoyed her horses and the fellowship of being involved. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

 

 Survived by her Mother and Father, Sharon and Kenneth Bailey, Emporium, Brother, Jody Bailey, Emporium; Special niece, Lilli Bailey, Emporium and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

 A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church 306 S Spruce St, Emporium, PA on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, officiating. 

 

The family will receive friends before the service at church from 10:00 -11:00 AM 

 

Burial will be in the Moore Hill Cemetery, Emporium, PA

Ernest C. Butler, 77, of 896 Costello Rd., Austin, PA formerly of 150 Parkway Dr., Emporium, PA died at his daughters residence in Austin, PA on Wednesday (November 23, 2016) morning He was born May 11, 1939 in Keating Summit, PA a son of the late Leonard F. and Charlotte McIsaac Butler.

 

On April 10, 1995 in Bomoseen, Vermont he married Patricia A. Foley, who survives Mr. Butler retired from the PA and the Penn Central Rail Road and later was a truck driver for several years. He was a member of the Keating Summit Methodist Church, Eagles Club in Fair Haven, VT.

 

He is survived by his wife Patricia A. Foley; son, Timothy Scott Butler, Austin; Daughter, Denise Hope, Mrs. John Owens, Costello; step-daughter, Lori Hansen, Keating Summit; Step-son, Matt Hansen, Colorado Springs; three step-daughters, Lisa Parker and Lori Lyle, both of Vermont and Dena Foley, New York; 11 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren; two sister, Ella Mae, Mrs. Jim Price, Keating Summit and Patricia, Mrs. Leonard Bosworth, Emporium.

 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard F. and Charlotte McIsaac Butler; two brothers, Eugene Butler who died Feb 18, 2007 and Jesse Butler who died January 30, 2013,

 

There will be No Visitation. A service will be held at a time to be announced by the family. Memorials may be made to the Keating Summit United Methodist Church or to the E.O. Austin Home Historical Society in Austin

 Dorothy Jean LaPolt, 77, of West Fourth Street, Emporium, died Monday, November 14, 2016 in her home. Born May 26, 1939 in Emporium, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Edna Lattin LaPolt. A lifelong resident of Emporium, she attended Emporium High School and spent her life working as a babysitter and care giver. Dorothy had attended the First Baptist Church of Emporium and very much enjoyed arts and crafts.

 

 Survivors include: two sisters, Etta Gee of Dunkirk, NY and Doris Brittin of Emporium; and many nieces and nephews including a favorite niece, Linda LaPolt, who was also her care giver.

 

 In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Albert LaPolt, William LaPolt and Sanford LaPolt, and one sister, Edith Smith.

 

 A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the Recreation Room of the Emporium Arms Apartments with Pastor Clair Slawson and Rev. Chris Groeger officiating. 

 

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Prayer & Share Fellowship at the Emporium Arms Apartments, 324 West Fourth St., Emporium. 

 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.

Donald J. Miller, 92, of 74 South Wood Street, Emporium, PA died at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA on Tuesday (November 15, 2016) morning. He was born September 23, 1924 in Emporium, PA a son of the late Arthur and Mabel Minard Miller. On December 10, 1945 in Winchester, VA he married the late Verba Lingenfelter Miller Mr. Miller served with the US Army, Fifth Signal Company in the Fifth Infantry Division, during WWII. He retired from Cameron Manufacturing, as a tool & die maker, where he had worked for over 60 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Emporium Lodge #382, F.and A.M. where he was a 32 degree mason.

 

Survived by One daughter, Kathy Torrey, Coudersport; Son, Donald L. "Beatrice" Miller, Front Royal, VA; Five Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Lois Bennett Rader, her children & grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mabel Minard Miller; 

wife, Verba Lingenfelter Miller who died in 1998, 

three brothers, Lionel "Nany" Minard and Cyril "Sonny" and Arthur "Jumbo" Miller.

 

Funeral Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 306 S Spruce St, Emporium, PA on Saturday (November 19, 2016) at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, officiating followed by a Military Service to be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.

 

 Visitation with Video Tribute will be at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th St., Emporium on Friday from 1-4 PM where a masonic service will take place at 3:30 PM. Burial will be private in the Gilmore Cemetery, Austin, PA Memorial

Stephen W. Galford, 67, of 551 Sizerville Rd., Emporium, PA died at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, PA on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2016. He was born June 13, 1949 in Marlinton, West Virginia a son of Mattie Gay Galford Holsinger, St. Marys, PA and the late Dennie Galford. On January 11, 1979 in Emporium he married Rosemary Young, who survives.

Mr. Galford worked with his father in the logging business years ago. He then worked for Shippen Township for many years including three terms as the townships supervisor. He owned and operated the former Steve Galford Contracting Company and currently worked for Duffy, Inc., in Smethport. He was a member of the Emporium Lodge #382, F.and A.M., and the First Baptist Church in Emporium. He had a love of the outdoors and always carried a camera on his outdoor adventures photographing various animals.

Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife Rosemary Young Galford, and a brother, Frank R. Galford, Emporium.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennie Galford and a step father, Robert Holsinger and a brother, Douglas Galford.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Saturday (November 12, 2016) at 6:00 PM with Rev. Joseph Short, Pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Saturdayfrom 4:00 - 6:00 PM where his masonic lodge will hold a Masonic Funeral Ritual at 4:30 PM.

Burial will be in the Newton Cemetery, Emporium, PA
